Arizona Sting at Colorado Mammoth
Saturday, 2:00 PM - Pepsi Center
Info: Game Summary | Game Stats

Dan Carey's goal four minutes into the fourth quarter held up as the game-winner as the Mammoth eked past the Sting, 13-12.

Twelve seconds after allowing Craig Conn to open the scoring, Colorado (12-6) struck back on a Gavin Prout goal and moved ahead courtesy of Chris Gill in the eighth minute, eventually extending to a 4-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Carey and Andrew Burkholder scored in the first 75 seconds of the second quarter, putting Arizona (9-9) behind by three, but despite getting back within a goal a short time later, the Sting couldn't tie the game before halftime, going to the room down 9-7.

Arizona did get its equalizer early in the third, then went ahead 10-9 as Conn completed a natural hat trick. Nick Carlson and Dan Stroup teamed up for Colorado to retake the lead, but Scott Self made it an 11-11 tie with two and a half minutes to go in the period.

Carlson and Carey joined up in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, but Dan Dawson narrowed the Sting's deficit to one goal with 6:43 to play.

That was as close as Arizona would get, with Gord Nash turning into a brick wall, making a total of 19 saves in the fourth quarter.

Conn (4 goals, 2 assists) and Prout (1 goal, 5 assists) tied for the game high in points, six.
