New York Titans at Buffalo Bandits
Saturday, 7:30 PM - HSBC Arena
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Mark Steenhuis scored six goals, including a fourth-quarter natural hat trick, as the Bandits chopped down the Titans, 19-12.

New York (11-7, 1-1) jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Mike McLellan and Greg Peyser and led 4-2 a few minutes later, but the Bandits rallied for a 5-4 advantage by the end of the first quarter.

Buffalo (12-6, 2-0) continued to build its lead in the second quarter, with Steenhuis and Brendan Mundorf exchanging goals ahead of a three-goal Bandits run to close out the first half (Brett Bucktooth, Kevin Dostie and Mike Accursi).

Tavares scored a half-minute into the second quarter, extending Buffalo's lead to 10-5, but Casey Powell netted consecutive goals a short time later to pull New York within three.

The Titans got as close as 12-10, in fact, on a three-goal run keyed by Mundorf (two assists, followed by a goal), but Dostie scored late in the third quarter to provide a little more breathing room.

Buffalo then wasted little time breaking the game wide open in the fourth period. Tavares scored 33 seconds in, followed by three in a row by Steenhuis and a single from Roger Vyse, and the score was suddenly 18-10 with ten minutes to play.

The rest of the game passed with little to note offensively, although Buffalo's Ian Llord racked up a 19 penalty minutes in a late-game fight with Matt Alrich.

Tavares led all scorers with an eye-popping twelve points, on three goals and nine assists. Steenhuis finished a distant second, with six goals and two assists. Powell paced the Titans, scoring two goals and assisting on four others.

Buffalo will host the NLL Championship Game next Saturday evening at HSBC Arena, at 7:30 PM Eastern.

Portland LumberJax at Calgary Roughnecks
Saturday, 9:30 PM - Saddledome
Inside: Game Stats | Discuss the Game

Ryan Powell and Peter Morgan keyed a six-goal fourth-quarter run in the LumberJax' 16-12 victory over the Roughnecks.

Morgan and Dan Dawson each scored twice in the first quarter for Portland (8-10, 2-0), helping the LumberJax to a 6-3 lead.

Kaleb Toth and Curt Malawsky scored early in the second quarter for Calgary (8-10, 1-1), narrowing the gap just one goal, at 6-5. However, Derek Malawsky soon countered for the LumberJax and Dawson restored the three-goal lead a few minutes later.

Jeff Shattler scored a short time before intermission, pulling Calgary to within 8-6 and setting off a three-goal run in which the Roughnecks tied the game, 8-8, by the midpoint of the third quarter. Powell and Shattler then traded goals late in the period.

After Toth put Calgary ahead, 10-9, Portland ran off six straight goals -- three by Powell and two by Morgan -- for a 15-10 lead. Curt Malawsky and Josh Sanderson scored late for the Roughnecks, but it wasn't nearly enough.

Dawson easily led all scorers, tallying ten points on five goals and five assists. Toth finished with three goals and three assists for Calgary.
