NLL Week Eleven: Riggers rock Titans, 13-6Calgary wins '09 championship game rematch; Blazers torch RushR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief Around the National Lacrosse League for the games of Week Eleven, 20 March 2010. (Summaries are based on best-available information and may be amended as necessary.) Calgary Roughnecks at Orlando Titans In a rematch of last season's championship game, Calgary (6-4) took a 7-2 halftime lead, courtesy of Sanderson's hat trick as well as two goals from Dane Dobbie and singles by Tracey Kelusky and Craig Conn. Orlando (6-4) fared better in the third quarter, scoring four goals (two by Jesse Guerin). The Riggers, though, also scored four times in the period, then struck for the only two goals of the fourth quarter. Sanderson finished with a game-high eight points, on four goals and four assists. Casey Powell had two goals and three assists for the Titans. Boston Blazers at Edmonton Rush Boston (6-5) controlled the scoreboard in the first half, racing out to leads of 4-1 after one quarter and 7-2 at halftime. Any chance Edmonton (6-4) had for a comeback evaporated when it allowed the Blazers to score three more times at the outset of the second half. Rush goals by Ian Crashley and Andy Secore late in the third period "narrowed" the deficit only slightly, to 10-4. Dawson led all scorers with seven points, adding two assists to his five goals. Secore, meanwhile, netted 80 percent of the Rush's goals, four. -30- |
