The National Lacrosse League today named Philadelphia Wings forward Sean Greenhalgh as the winner of the 2006 Bowflex Sportsmanship Award.

The award honors the combination of character and performance, exemplified by Greenhalgh's team-leading totals in goals (31) and points (73) and his being called for just two penalties all season, both minors.

Previous Winners:
2005 Gary Gait
       Colorado Mammoth
2004 Gary Gait
       Colorado Mammoth
       Peter Lough
       Arizona Sting
2003 Chris Driscoll
       Toronto Rock
2002 Jim Veltman
       Toronto Rock

"Sean is a special young man," Wings co-owner Russ Cline said. "He plays at the highest level, always respecting those he plays with and against. He will continue to make a positive impact on this league and the sport of lacrosse for years to come."

Greenhalgh, who played in all sixteen games for the Wings, netted eight weekly awards this season, including two selections as the Overall Player of the Week and two consecutive season-ending Rookie of the Week awards.

Greenhalgh was the third-overall pick in last summer's NLL Entry Draft, successfully helping to fill the void created by the retirement of Tom Marechek after last season.

The Sportsmanship Award is voted on by the general managers, head coaches and executives of the NLL's eleven teams.

NLL continues naming end-of-season award recipients tomorrow, with the Defensive Player of the Year Award, culminating in the selection of the Most Valuable Player on Thursday, 11 May.
