If it worked for Portland, it's got to be good Chicago, right?

Well, the jury's still out on the National Lacrosse League's newest nickname, but hey, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery -- right, LumberJax?

Chicago Shamrox logo, unveiled today.

Kevin Loughery's club, which will play at the still-unfinished Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, will be known as the Chicago Shamrox.

Loughery, the former head coach of the NBA's Chicago Bulls, leads an ownership group which includes his son, Kevin, Jr., and businessmen Don Sallee and Doug Schaer.

"The Shamrox name was the top choice of the fans in our Internet voting contest," said Loughery, Jr., the team's managing partner and governor.

"We listened to the fans and we really like the name Shamrox. And we have some terrific logos that we trust our fans, players, coaches and staff will be proud to wear."

The team unveiled its primary logo today, a green shamrock with orange trim, leaning to the right to suggest motion.

The word "Shamrox," in white, runs across the shamrock, with a lacrosse stick helping to form the 'X' and a black line (with "Chicago" in white) as an underscore.

The Shamrox also introduced Conrad Kowal as team president and Phil Ryan as director of lacrosse operations.

Kowal is a Chicago native with front office experience in the National Football League and Major League Baseball; most recently, he was senior director of marketing and business development for the NFL's New Orleans Saints.

Ryan, who played professionally with the Detroit Turbos in 1994, has significant coaching experience at the youth, high school and collegiate levels in and around Chicago.

The club is now accepting $25 season ticket deposits at ChicagoShamrox.com or via phone at 866.4CHI.NLL.
