NLL announces television deal with OLNPrime-time Saturday night package on soon-to-be-renamed networkR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief Five years after the National Lacrosse League's last live Game of the Week package on American television, the league today announced that OLN will air games live throughout the 2007 season. The weekly telecasts, mainly on Saturday nights, comprise the league's first package of live broadcasts since a one-year stint on CNN/SI in 2002, a partnership which died when the network shut down that summer. This fall, OLN will become "Versus," a name change which should be complete long before the start of the NLL season. "Our new partnership with OLN brings the National Lacrosse League to primetime national television on a weekly basis throughout our entire regular season," NLL commissioner Jim Jennings said. "It’s a historic announcement for not only our league, but the sport of lacrosse as a whole. The game has made such great strides in recent years, and the NLL is proud to partner with OLN in bringing lacrosse to a national audience every Saturday night throughout our season." Telecasts will include all the goodies of all-access sports coverage, including players wearing microphones, on-floor interviews during stoppages in play, and cameras in the locker rooms. |
