Bandits deal A.J. Shannon to RushBuffalo gets third-overall pick; Edmonton receives '07 first-rounderR.A. Philly Outsider's Guide Editor in Chief The Buffalo Bandits today traded forward A.J. Shannon to the Edmonton Rush in an exchange of first-round draft picks. Shannon, the sixth-overall pick in the October 2003 entry draft, scored seven goals and dished out sixteen assists before his 2006 campaign ended with a torn knee ligament at mid-season. Shannon had not missed a game in his career until that injury, tallying 48 goals and 53 assists in 45 games, including postseason action. Shannon will be counted on to improve Edmonton's league-worst offense, which scored only 150 goals last season. Buffalo gets the better of the deal on the draft picks, securing the third-overall selection in this year's draft. Edmonton gets Buffalo's first-round pick in 2007, which, if the Bandits fare roughly as well in the coming season as they did in 2006, would be around twelfth overall. -30- |
