One day after selecting Dan Stroup and Chris Gill in the National Lacrosse League's expansion draft, the Chicago Shamrox today traded the pair to the Edmonton Rush in a five-player trade.

The two former Colorado forwards will be joined in Alberta by ex-Rochester Knighthawk forward Ryan O'Connor, also taken in the expansion draft.

In return, the Shamrox acquire forwards Mat Giles and Jason Clark, as well as the twelfth-overall pick in this year's entry draft.

Edmonton will count on ten-year veterans Stroup and Gill, who had 51 goals between them in 2006 as the Mammoth stormed to the league championship, to add serious firepower to an offense which scored only 150 goals last season.

O'Connor, meanwhile, has averaged about one goal and one and a half assists per game throughout his eight-year career.

"All three players bring leadership, championships and power play experience to our offense," Rush head coach Paul Day said. "Stroup and Gill are well-known for their strength as crease men in the league."

The three new Rushers won NLL titles together in Toronto in 1999 and 2000, Stroup and Gill in leading roles and O'Connor supporting in limited action.

Chicago, meanwhile, gets two well-travelled veterans. This is Giles' eighth organization in as many professional seasons, and the seventh stop for Clark. They've played together twice previously, 2003 in Ottawa and last season in Edmonton.

Clark and Giles were each midseason pickups for the Rush in 2006, coming via a free agent signing and a trade with Toronto, respectively. Clark tallied seven goals and nineteen assists in six games, while Giles chipped in eight goals and fourteen assists over eleven outings.
